Hills Wartime Heroes

As stated by Ron Smith in his Hills Voices Online Castle Hill RSL Club interview, the names of many military personnel were not recorded on any known Honour Roll. Following on from the work of the Mitchell Electorate Australia Remembers Committee and with the recently discovered Baulkham Hills Shire Patriotic Fund Book, The Hills Shire Library Service began in 2007 to consolidate the names of earlier residents of The Hills Shire who served in The Boer Wars, World War 1 and World War 2.

With the advent of the Internet some wonderful resources have appeared to expand the project now known as Hills Wartime Heroes. Details of residents found who were born in The Hills Shire and participated as military personnel, as well as those found who worked at the 103rd General Hospital at William Thompson Masonic School site have been added to this comprehensive database.

The project has been painstakingly compiled by Library volunteer Ian Beckett with the assistance of Pam Trimmer and Trevor Patrick from The Hills District Historical Society Inc, Ron Smith from Castle Hill RSL Club, and Noelene Pullen, Development Officer- Local Studies, The Hills Shire Library Service.

You can view these records as an Online Table by clicking HERE.

To make suggestions of other earlier residents who qualify for inclusion in Hills Wartime Heroes please contact The Development Officer – Local Studies, The Hills Shire Library Service on 9761 4525.
